November Update

I can't believe we are only a month away from holiday break!

Music
Students have already started working hard and are excited for this year's play Home for the Holidays. Save the dates: Wednesday December 20 and Thursday December 21, both performances starting at 6:30.

Language Arts
Students have been working really hard for the last little bit on their reading comprehension and their sentence structure. We have been working on making sure each sentence has a noun (person, place or thing) as well as a nice description (verb) as to what the noun is doing.
You may have also noticed a reading/pizza flyer go home last week. After each book read at home, students can colour or fill in the mark on the flyer. Once they have read ten books, students can bring the coupon back for me to sign and you can redeem it for a free pizza. And who doesn't love free pizza?!

Math
Students are also working diligently on adding and subtracting two digit numbers. Any extra practice at home will benefit the students. Regrouping 10's and 100's can be challenging and frustrating. We will soon be having a quiz adding and subtracting two digit numbers.

Science
We finished up our rocks and minerals unit with a test. We have now moved on to our Sound and Hearing unit! We had a lot of fun sorting "pleasant" and "unpleasant" sounds and talking about the difference between a "man-made" and "natural" sound. We are working away on another lapbook for this unit.

Social Studies
We have also started a new unit on Tunisia! We have done a little bit of research and found out that the capital city of Tunisia is Tunis and we figured out what the flag of Tunisia looks like.
