December update

Language Arts
Students had a great time this week doing some readers theatre. Students were given a script and read through it creating voice and actions for the part they were playing. We also wrapped up our short essays on the North Pole.

Late in the week all of the grade 3 students got together with their grade 6 buddies and we all shared our Christmas writing.

Math
Students worked through some tough problem solving questions in math this week. We reviewed the problem solving process and given the steps, most students were able to figure out how to solve the problem. We also had extra practice adding and subtracting with regrouping. We've spent a lot of time on a new math website ixl.com. Students have log in information glued in the front of their agenda.

Social Studies
We created a class book on Tunisia. Study sheets went home today and there will be a quiz next week to wrap up our unit on Tunisia.

Science
We made shakers today out of paper plates and dried chick peas. This demonstrates how we can control the volume that is produced when we move our shakers!
